A Celebration of GRATITUDE and ACCOMPLISHMENTS summed up the 27th Graduation and Awarding Ceremony held at the Songket Ballroom, The Rizqun International Hotel on Saturday, 24th November 2018. Savouring the moment of taking pride in their academic performances but remaining humble and grateful to those who were instrumental to where they are now, the 339 graduates from the primary and secondary sections could not contain their tears of joy and sadness. Tears of joy because they were able to surpass the stressful schooldays completing brain-cracking homework and classworks and at the same time sad because they’re leaving the most memorable place they called second home, the school.
Seri Mulia Sarjana School was delighted to have as the Guest of Honour, the Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Motohiko Kato. Graced by equally important guests and the stakeholders, the event started with a Tausyeh and a DOA. Donning those caps and togas and beaming with pride, the graduates snappily marched the red carpet and presented themselves to the hundreds of spectators. The graduates’ emotional moment heightened when their names echoed in the four walls of the hall as they approached the center stage to receive the sweetest fruit of their hardwork, their diplomas.
Performances such as Bruneiana (Traditional Dance Number), “Dynamic Batch Photo” and Speech Choir from Primary and Secondary students enlivened the celebration. Academic Year 2018 was indeed a year of achievements. To honour those who showed exemplary performance in academics, trophies and certificates were awarded to the top 3 students per level. Other awards such as TAIB, Special Awards Mandarin Language Awards were also given. The announcement of the Student of the Year for Primary and Secondary sections and the prestigious Dr. Mary Lim Leadership Award gave the crowd an intense excitement.
Graduation ceremony is the most awaited moment for the whole Sarjana Family. It is not just a moment of thanksgiving but also a symbolic present to the parents for trusting their children’s educational foundation to SMSS. It’s not just an ordinary year-end event but a special one because the students are occupied a special spot in the HEART of the Sarjana community.
Since its foundation, Seri Mulia Sarjana School has become a leading provider of quality education to the youth of the country. Remaining rooted to its vision and mission, it continuously provided graduates who are now taking positions and are successful in the public and private sectors here and abroad. And today, SMSS proudly presented once again the 176 Year 6 graduates and 163 Year 11 and 10 Express completers. These promising batches, armed with dignity, pride, excellence and the RIGHT (Respect, Initiative, Global Responsibility, Honour and Teamwork) values will surely play an important role in the realisation of Brunei’s Wawasan 2035.
To the graduates of 2018, the Sarjana Family wholeheartedly congratulates you for this remarkable success! We wish you all the best in all your future undertakings. As you leave the portals of SMSS, the home in your heart, we are certain that you will continue to spread the ‘Sarjana’ spirit wherever you are. Always remember that as Sarjanians, YOU ARE THE FUTURE!
