Bagging the second spot from among the 86 participants (Individual Prizes) in the recently concluded 19th Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Private Primary Schools (APMOPS) 2019 was a remarkable achievement to a Math prodigy, Ahmad Rayyan Bin Erdie. The event, held at Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan on Saturday, 6th April 2019, likewise brought the team of ‘Sarjanians’ to the 2nd Runner-up position in the Team Prize category.
The Sarjana Team was comprised of Year 6 students Marven Ting Hong Sheng, Irfan Zikry bin Haji Rozaiman, Muhammad Zakwan bin Haji MohdJa’afar, Sunnie Ho Xiao Shan, Tan Guan Jie, AzeemaNazaahabinti Shoukry, Nur BasyirahHamizahbinti Haji Hamzah, Lim Mei Ling, Ahmad Rayyan bin Erdie, Mohammad Amir Irsyad bin Haji Mohammad Alimin, Amelie Wong Jia Xin and Narionne Hardie Cortez Ariola. The road to winning in the said competition was never easy according to the team. “It entailed hard work, determination, and RIGHT attitude. Being competitive but remaining rooted to the Sarjana value was another ingredient in reaping success,” the team added.
Trained by Teachers Ma. Karren ContilloTangco, Sophia Rosy and Saroja Venkatesh, the team hopes to qualify in the Invitation Round on Saturday, 1st June 2019 at Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore.
