Sarjana’s pride, Isaac Tiong Ing Hoe captured the hearts of the judges in the ‘No Plastic Bag Everyday’ Poster Competition when he illustrated in detail the marine lives being victims of man’s cruel acts. His work of art, a truly human-interest entry, featuring the teary-eyed fish with stomachs densely packed with plastic bags and rubbish, emerged as champion in the said competition in conjunction with Earth Day Celebration.
Awarded on Monday, 22nd April at the Betabur Hall by no less than the Minister of Development, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar. The Art Prodigy, who bested hundred other contestants in the Junior Category, proudly accepted the gift voucher worth BND200 courtesy of Samima Sdn Bhd. Sharing the triumph was Melanie Wong Yeu Jen who bagged the 7th place in the same category.
The competition, hosted by Ministry of Development through the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, evolved in the theme, ”It takes a nation to end plastic pollution.” The said competition, promoting the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation’s ‘No Plastic Bag Everyday’ initiative ran from 4th February to 28th March. The entries were thoroughly scrutinized based on originality, relevance to the theme and conformity to country’s ideals of the Malay Islamic Monarch (Melayu Islam Beraja, MIB) philosophy.
