To guarantee an effective implementation of the school’s new ICT programme, ten teachers attended Cambridge ICT Starters Workshop focusing on how to grade assessment papers based on each module’s learning objectives. The workshop took place on 9th to 11th April 2019 at SMSS Primary Section and was facilitated by Danawa Education Sdn Bhd from Malaysia.
The Cambridge ICT Starters Administrative Guides covering preparations of exam timetables and access arrangements, entry fees, exam rules and regulations and other ICT matters were introduced on the first session of the said workshop. To fully grasp the ins and outs of the ICT modules, the guidelines for each year level were likewise unveiled. The second session shed light on the new programming module, which included the step-by-step process on how to create shapes, patterns and interactive stories. The said programming module will be introduced to the students as early as age 9, Year 3. On the last day of the forum, participants were given different sets of paper to be answered within a given time. Afterwards, a discussion on grading papers based on learning objectives was done right after the trial examination. It was indeed an interesting and productive session.
The three-day workshop was another leap towards a better integration of technology in our daily life, for it left a great inspiration for the mentors who, after acquiring enough knowledge on said subject, vowed to use ICT as a pedagogical tool to improve teaching for quality students’ learning.
