Teachers of Brunei annually accept congratulations on Teachers’ Day on 23rd
September. This holiday was established in Brunei to commemorate the birth of the ruler Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III who was the 28th ruler of Brunei. The celebration is part of efforts to elevate the teaching profession that has contributed to developing human resource capacity in Brunei Darussalam. This year, the celebration was held on Tuesday, 27th September 2022 at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC) and was attended by 17 teachers from the secondary section.

The participants felt ecstatic as His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the Royal Family graced the notable event.

The event proceeded with the showcase of a Teacher’s Day video clip that exhibited aspects of pedagogy and the evolution of technology in formal and religious education in Brunei Darussalam from the perspective of teachers. His Majesty also delivered a Titah at this morning’s event. The climax of the celebration was the presentation of the Teacher’s Day Awards from 2020, 2021, and 2022 which consisted of 1 recipient of the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Education Award, 6 Meritorious Teacher Award
recipients, 23 Excellent Teacher Award recipients and 79 Special Mention
Teacher’s Day Appreciation Award recipients.
