Seri Mulia Sarjana School is elated once again as two teams from our school were chosen as finalists for the 7th Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2019 organized by Universiti Teknology Brunei (UTB) in partnership with Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd. One of the aims of the CIPTA Competition is to inspire the youth and the public to develop creative products, processes or technology for national and ASEAN aspirations. Our Smart Junior Category finalists are from Y8, namely: Elijah Cheam Kai Jie, Y8A and Matthew Abel Robles Filio, Y8D supervised by Teacher Myra Angeles. The Category 3 participants are the following: Janelle Joyce Ampongan Perez, Y11C, Nur Ayezha Barasi Nurul Islam, Y10E and Muhammad Haziq Safwan bin Sheran 10E supervised by Teacher Rhoel Pacis.
The competition consists of three main categories, namely Local Categories, Smart Junior Competition and ASEAN Categories. The Local categories comprise of three sub-categories: Category 1, 2 and 3 while the Smart Junior Competiton is open to lower secondary school.
The 38 finalists from different categories will compete in March for the finals. The competition serves as a platform for talented individuals to create inventions and innovations of high-quality products that could contribute towards the benefit of the society and economic growth. Just like in the previous years, the Crown Prince CIPTA Award welcomes participations from both locals and ASEAN member states alike, encompassing in areas of Science, Technology and Engineering. The acronym CIPTA stands for Creative, Innovative Product and Technological Advancement, which also means to create or to invent in Malay.
